PBI Medical Ethics and Professionalism Course (ME-15T)

Who Should Attend This Course?
This is a cost effective program that allows participants to participate from the privacy of their homes or offices with no travel or lodging expenses.
At the request of regulatory boards, this course was developed to fulfill the remedial education requirements for professionals who have been investigated and/or disciplined for ethical violations. Others may benefit from participation as a measure of preventive education. This course is not a replacement for standard bioethics courses or general ethics courses in medical school or other health care professions.
For some, this course is a mandated requirement for continuing to practice or to have the option of returning to practice following a suspension or other disciplinary action. Course participants may have breached an ethical code or violated their state’s administrative practice act- rule or law, or may have found themselves in a situation in which their actions or lack of actions were perceived by those in authority , to constitute a violation or possible violation. In any case, the outcome has been, in part or in whole, to participate in an ethics course.
What Is This Course About?This course is designed to address administrative and ethical violations including transgressions of codes of ethics, state administrative code and Medical Practice Acts. The truth is, any professional would benefit from the educational experience of a PBI course.
The PBI Medical Ethics and Professionalism Course (ME-15T) covers issues like:

Are Boundary Violations Covered?
This course does not cover the specific issue of professional sexual misconduct, sexual impropriety or sexual violations which are more thoroughly addressed in other Professional Boundaries, Inc. courses. However, a violator in this area may gain some understanding and insight into the underlying dynamics that might have triggered this behavior.

The course goal is to re-establish a firm ethical foundation, including an ethical protection plan, for professionals who have been investigated for ethical violations by state regulatory boards and/or professional associations.
With this class, you will learn to:
- Gain an understanding of moral authority and ethical decision making.
- Understand the relationship between ethical content and ethical process.
- Review codes and laws relevant to their specific offense.
- Communicate the harm done from ethical / legal violations.
- Identify and define violation potentials for ethical issues utilizing the Ethics Formula.
- Create an Ethics Protection Plan to maintain and safeguard professional ethics.
- Learn to utilize peer group discussions for ethical dilemma resolution.
