Who Should Attend The PBI Prescribers Course?

Professional Boundaries Inc. developed the Ongoing Education Course for Prescribers for all prescribers, as well as for those dealing with administrative or disciplinary issues. We offer state-specific instruction for statute and guidelines through an individualized pre-course component.

What Are The Course Objectives?

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply the prescribing laws and regulations into clinical practice for the safe and effective use of opioids and controlled substances.
  2. Produce and maintain medical records documenting compliance prescribing laws and documenting appropriate management and treatment of chronic pain.
  3. Understand addiction and differentiate physical dependence from addiction so as to minimize abuse and optimize pain treatment
  4. Implement safer, more effective treatment with improved outcome through the application of a comprehensive knowledge of the spectrum of pain medications.

This course offers 21 CME credits in the form of 5 hours of pre-course materials and 16 hours live in-person instruction. The course director, Jennifer Schneider, MD, is a nationally recognized expert in the management of chronic pain with opioids and the author of numerous papers in professional journals in the addiction and pain management fields. The faculty for this course were selected by Professional Boundaries Inc and approved by the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education.
